ZION EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA
Good Morning, Everybody!
[Good Morning, Pastor] How IS
everybody today? [Good]
That's good. Who would like to look in ThePurpleBag for this
morning to get us started? Viv, would you
like to look? Okay.
like to look? Okay.
[It's a mirror] It's a mirror, yeah!
Whatta ya do with a mirror? [Look in it]
Oh yeah, you look in it and you see ...
you know it's interesting ... you know what's the most
interesting part about this mirror? Let me show it to you.
Okay. See this side right here? I can turn it
into a picture. [I look like a princess] You look like a
princess! You wanna see something else? On this side,
you're a bigger princess! And even more pretty.
[Yes] Yes, it's bigger, isn't it? See.
Smaller princess ... BIG princess!
[Laughter] Because you think,
sometime when you're looking at yourself,
you think you can't see enough of yourself, you can
MAGNIFY it. [Laughter] And that's a good thing.
Because sometimes we do have to magnify how we look. See.
Small princess. Big princess.
Big prince. [Giggling]
Small prince.
And it's okay when we do that with ourselves.
But sometimes we look at other people and
we magnify what we see.
But sometime when we're in our room playing or maybe
we're on the playground playing, and somebody comes up
and starts to annoy us by playing with stuff
that we have or they don't wanna play the game that we
have, and they just keep bothering us and annoying us.
We look at them and that's all that we can see.
We have magnified their whole person
to be just annoying.
And that's not a good thing.
Because sometimes we have to realize that we
act the same way! Sometimes we are annoying
to other people! Sometimes we just wanna play with other
people and join in the fun. So one of the things that we're
learning today is that we shouldn't look at other people
and just see their problems. And just see
the things that annoy us or see their sin. But we should
look at them as we would want them to look at us and
understand that they probably just wanna play with us, or
they just wanna be near us. And that we all sin ...
we all make mistakes, but
the one thing that we all have in common is that God has
forgiven us all. He looks at us and He loves us.
And He wants us to come to Him
with all of our sins, ask for His forgiveness. And
He takes away our sins and then we have heaven
and we will be with Him forever.
So today we wanna remember that we don't just
look at the bad in other people.
But we look at the good in them and
we treat them the way that we would want to be treated
especially when they need forgiveness.
Anybody have any questions to that? [Yes]
What Viv? Okay, yes. Ya gonna do all that? [Um-hmm] Good!
All right. You can go back to your moms and dads in the pews
and we'll join together in our hymn-of-the day.
