Hey guys! In the last couple of months, I was part of
something really awesome. In November, Mikhaela who was the head coordinator
of YU Charity Ball asked me to help with the social media/marketing and promotions aspect
of the event. Since then I’ve been running the Facebook
and Twitter accounts for the event. And last night at Casa Loma, we held the 2014
YU Charity Ball. Our charity was the Princess Margaret Cancer
Foundation. We sold almost 550 tickets.
I don’t think we have a total number of how much money we raised yet but with over
500 people that came to the event, I think we raised quite a bit.
This was the first formal event that I had gone to during my three years at York.
Um, I always feel a little uncomfortable at formal and semi-formal events.
I was a little stressed at the beginning of this event but I got to see so many of my
favourite people, not only from Glendon, but also my favourite people I met at LeaderShape
last year, And my new exec team for TEDxYorkU, a bunch
of them were there as well. So being able to hang out and connect with
them was awesome. They really did help to save my night.
I really wanted to vlog at the event, but apparently castles aren’t very well lit
at night so… I did get a little bit of footage
[music] If you went to the event and you’re watching
this video, thank you so much for coming, you guys made it awesome and I can’t wait
to see how much money we raised for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
I slept over in Kelly’s room, if you’re wondering what this is all about.
She let me draw on a squash that was in her room.. so…
I really wanted to draw a unicorn, but horses are really difficult to draw.
Thanks for watching; I’ll see you next time. Bye!
Believe in the narwhal.
