We have to think: What are we doing? And where are we going?
So we've seen many sit-ins, demonstrations and strikes...and we've achieved a lot
But now we have to calm down, think, and start building a new Egypt
We can't keep having demonstrations, we can't keep having sit-ins
No one can deny that #Jan25 was a great revolution that has achieved a lot
But we should also recognize that it's not the same people at the square as before...right?
Now the military council is in control. And the army, as we all now, is not used to dealing with civilians
That's why there's going to be mistakes and things that just won't work at first
We need to cooperate with the army and understand that we're in a transitional phase
And it's only a matter of months before the power is transferred
During this period, they may commit some mistakes because the army's used to being at camps
At the desert, dealing with the enemy, or with situations of battle and warfare
But the army is not used to dealing with regular people and civilians
And careful, we all know that there are "invisible hands" representing all of the countries that do not want Egypt
To get back on its feet. They want to destroy the country and our system.
They don't want Egypt to be strong
That's why the "invisible hands", or the "foreign fingers" (secretive foreign involvement) play a big role on the ground in Egypt
And we certainly don't want to put the army in a bad position in front of the enemy, Israel
Because we all know that the army hates Israel, and there is no sort of cooperation with Israel
But at the same time when we get into clashes with the army, or corner them, they are left in a bad position in front of the enemy, Israel
With all due respect to our Coptic brothers and sisters, but when the Copts take the streets in protest
That represents minor issues. Those are side demands at a time when we should all be focusing on overcoming the current phase
After that we can see how things develop. We can't have a situation where every person is protesting for his or her cause
Now's not the time to demonstrate. We should all calm down and work to build a new Egypt
So to be honest, the Copts' demands are not essential at this point
And we'd also like to tell the workers who carry out sit-ins and strikes...
We understand that their lives are not the best, but we're not going to fix the problem with strikes
To put it in basic terms; if a worker is striking, how are we going to be able to have the money in order to pay him?
Therefore all workers need to end strikes completely and focus on working, to produce
And then they can get money. But if they strike, they won't be able to get anything
There's no money coming out so that they can get their rights
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
It's only a matter of months before they transfer power
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
So what if there are more than 12,000 people going through military trials?
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
What the big deal is the army is throwing at us stones, Molotov cocktails, live ammunition, pellets and rubber bullets?
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
What's the big deal if the Christians are being run over by armored vehicles? So what?
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
What's the big deal is tens are been killed whether in Mohamed Mahmoud st. or even Maspero?
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
What's the big deal if women are being stripped, roughed up and dragged in the streets at Tahrir square? So what?
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
What's the big deal if the TV channels, while broadcasting, are attacked by the army and the emission's cut out? So what?
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
What's the big deal if Egyptian television is inciting sectarianism between Muslims and Christians? So what?
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
What's the big deal if SCAF's official statements incite violence against revolutionaries by name? So what?
We need to calm down and collaborate with the military council
What's the big deal if the army has legislative power? Or supra-constitutional laws?
Or if SCAF has power above the constitution allowing them to interfere in laws and change them? So what?
And what's the big deal if the army has assured us that their position will not change after the elections? So what?
That's why we need to calm down and stay at home
Because when we take the streets, the entire country comes to a standstill
When 50,000, 100,000 or 500,000 are at Tahrir square, not a single person anywhere in the country can work
We need to calm down, and stay at home
Because when a worker carries out a sit-in, this causes a problem
He's already making 250 or 300 LE a month, what more does he want?
He needs to work to produce, then we can figure it out later
That is why we need to calm down and stay at home
And everything will be solved on its own
If we calm down and stay at him, and refrained for doing demonstrations, sit-ins or strikes, everything will be much better
But I will be taking the streets on the 25th
And I will keep taking part in every demonstration, every sit-in and every strike there is
Until we end military rule
And until we have bread, freedom and social justice
Thank you, people.
