In this video we will demonstrate how to open the Control Panel on both the Metro and Desktop sides of Windows 8.
Here on the Desktop side we can press the Windows and Q keys,
Type control in the box,
and then click on Control Panel.
The screen will switch to the Desktop view and display the Control Panel.
If we switch to the Metro side,
we can also press the Windows and Q keys,
enter control in the box,
and click on Control Panel.
Just as before, the Control Panel opens.
On the Desktop side we can press the Windows and I keys.
Notice the Control Panel is displayed and all we have to do is click on it.
Switching back to the Metro side, unfortunately
we see it doesn't work the same way.
Control Panel is not listed.
We must resort to using the Windows and Q keys as we did before.
Type the word control
and click on Control Panel.
If you need to go directly to the System Information section of Control Panel, you can press the Windows and Pause keys.
That will take you directly to the System Information screen.
We can also go to the main Control Panel screen by clicking the navigation bar at the top.
One final way is we can press the Windows and X keys
which opens a handy tools menu.
We will cover this Tools menu in much more detail in a future video. Here we can select Control Panel.
Now you know several ways to get directly into the Control Panel in Windows 8.
