Korean models are drawing global attention on the runway at New York Fashion Week.
What's even more astounding is that they're rookie models with less than two years experience.
Kim Ji-yeon reports.
The catwalk for Anna Sui, one of the most celebrated names in U.S. fashion, begins.
It's not long before Asian models emerge among a group of Western models.
New York Magazine introduced three Korean rookies to look for at this week-long fashion
event, New York Fashion Week: Kim Sung-hee, Park Ji-hye and Soo Joo.
Twenty-five-year-old Korean model Park Ji-hye was selected to walk runways in 2013 at 30
different fashion shows, for such names as Chanel and Christian Dior.
"Many think Asians are shy but I want to show confidence and liveliness on the runway as
a model・"
Twenty-six-year-old Kim Sung-hee is the "first-ever Asian face of Prada" after shooting a collection
book for Miu Miu in front of the lens of leading fashion photographer Steven Meisel.
New York Magazine described Kim as being a suitable model for designer or luxury brands
due to her elegance and grace.
"I want to further improve my modeling skills so that I am a jack-of-all-trades."
The spread of the Korean Wave or Hallyu is expected to open up new doors and opportunities
for Korean models in the world of high-class fashion.
