Is Davros returning? Is the new Doctor a good man? Does Clara have a boyfriend?
And what is it like inside a Dalek? Lets find out!
Hi guys, welcome to the man cave I'm James and we're looking at Doctor Who spoilers.
By now you will all be aware that the scripts for the first five episodes of series eight
of Doctor Who have leaked. If you haven't seen them yet check out my previous videos
where we run down information about the five scripts and also w go into the first
episode "Deep Breath". In this video we are going to be looking at the second episode of the series
"Into the Dalek". Needless to say this is big, big, big spoiler territory
We are talking about unaired episodes of Doctor Who if you don't want to know what happens
turn off now. I'll repeat that just for those who are unsure
if you do not want Doctor Who spoiled and you want to see what it is like when
it comes on the screen
turn off now. OK, so this episode starts in the middle of a huge war
there is the Daleks fighting the rebels. Straight away we see the Doctor saving
the life of some rebels
and we end up on a former hospital spaceship
which is now a secure base. Its convenient that The Doctor has turned up because they need a doctor
on hearing his name they decide to introduce him to a unique
patient. A Dalek! Obviously a good doctor needs an assistant
so off he goes to fetch Clara. Meanwhile Clara has been living a normal life back at
Coal Hill School as a teacher
and she has also been flirting with a new teacher there, Danny Pink. We see hints
to Danny's past as a soldier
which is something he is quite touchy about. Although we see Danny in this episode
The Doctor doesn't meet Danny yet. Back on board the spaceship the Doctor now
starts communicating with this unique patient
and he finds out something shocking: this is a good Dalek!
Now you'll remember the teaser trailer a week or so ago where we see the Doctor being exterminated at the
TARDIS console. There was lots of speculation after that teaser that
perhaps we would see the return of Davros or the return of Dalek Caan.
No we don't see the return of any of this characters what we do see
is this good Dalek, and it is this good Dalek's voice
that is in that teaser clip. So how has it become good? Well, this Dalek was left
for dead
floating in space, as it drifted it saw galaxies explode and it saw the birth of
a star. This Dalek saw beauty. In seeing beauty and discovering morality,
this Dalek decides that he is going to kill all other Daleks.
Intrigued by the whole prospect The Doctor agrees to help
this injured Dalek. So has The Doctor finally made friends with a Dalek?
He has even given it a name, he has called it 'Rusty'. To heal the Dalek they need to
get inside of it.
At this point the episode becomes a little bit like the movie 'Innerspace'
The Doctor, Clara and the team of rebel soldiers
are all shrunken down to go inside the Dalek.
Of course once you are inside the Dalek this forms a whole new set of enemies:
The Dalek's antibodies come after them. So The Doctor, Clara and the gang go on a
little romp inside the Dalek's casing
In search of the malfunction. Eventually they find it, it is a radiation leak inside
and they've got there just in time it looks like it could blow! However, stupidly easily
The Doctor manages to fix it upend he saves the day! But of course fixing the
radiation leak
fixes the Dalek too! Now we have a Dalek going on an extermination rampage
inside the rebel spaceship and even worse we've got The Doctor, Clar and the gang
all stuck inside the Dalek! And again we see the darker side of the
Doctor, he is seemingly happy that he has been proven right, that there is no such thing as a
good
dalek. Now, I know you're here for spoilers but I'm not going to spoil the entire episode
for you so I'll leave it there so you've got a little bit of a surprise as to the ending of this
thing
Other things in this episode: Well the series arc continues to develop
as one of the soldiers dies we see them wake up in an apparent version of heaven
and there is a new character called 'Missy' welcoming them there. Could this be the
new overall big bad of the series?
This episode is also where we hear the line from the first teaser trailer
of the Doctor asking whether he is a good man. And one more tiny spoiler
The Doctor rejects having a new companion because he doesn't like soldiers.
How might this affect Clara's new friend Danny when the Doctor eventually meets
him?
So that is the quick run down of series eight episode two "into the Dalek"
My thoughts? I'll be honest, I really dislike Daleks,I think they are overused
I think
they are tired now. I can see how terrifying they would have been in 1963
but I just don't think they have that same terrifying appeal nowadays.
So to me it is welcome that we see a new type of Dalek story
I absolutely loved the Dalek episode from the first series with Chris Ecclestone
and I think that I actually will like this one too. I have a feeling that some people will
complain
that this isn't what the Daleks are like or what they were meant to be
but tough, the Daleks as characters need to do something else and
in this case a change is as good as a rest. So what do you think? Do you like the sound of that?
