National Taiwan University, previously known as Taihoku Imperial University, was founded in 1928
From the Japanese occupation to today's democratic Taiwan
Over the course of eighty years, National Taiwan University has cultivated numerous leaders
Thus allowing NTU's radiance to be seen in almost every discipline
The archives contain Taiwan's recent academic advancement
The deep and rich history of the NTU archives is the best testimony to Taiwan's academic development
Regardless of who you are—
student, teacher, or the average citizen—
we hope, through your own perspective, you can become familiar with NTU's history
and see its sincerity, and its themes
There are some related documents
including documents from the organizations founded during the Imperial University period
One of our focuses is on official documents
the ones on display are replicas made by the staff here
I think this is a very creative idea
In the NTU Museum of Archives
the archivists have selected a couple of essential themes
to trace and commemorate
In here, you will discover the origins of NTU and many of its stories
I feel that all NTU students and alumni should come for a visit
Our exhibition is a bit different from the NTU Historical Museum
We focus on the culture, history, and stories
Through this approach, we hope to inspire our visitors
and hope that this inspiration and knowledge can be passed down to the next generation
From the official documents preserved here
we can see again and again the meticulousness of the Japanese through their handwriting
In the early days, to aid their Southern Expansion policy, the Japanese founded the Southern Humanities Institute
Those documents, through the passage of time
have now become historical relics
We hope that through this exhibition
we can present the significant moments of NTU's history to the people
At the same time, we hope everyone can reflect on the past
understand how NTU developed, and from there, create a better future
As well, you can also see the school emblem, symbolizing our school spirit
as well as the twelve presidents of our school
All these things have been integrated into this special exhibition
The Fu Garden and Fu Bell on the main campus also represent the NTU spirit
Although President Fu served for less than two years
he has always been an inspiration to the NTU community, setting a standard for NTU's spirit
The reason President Fu is honored
is because he made important contributions to campus democracy
Apart from paper documents
there are also desks and cabinets made from cypress, as well as an antique hole-puncher
On the surface, they may look old
but even today, they are still functional
Early archivists did their work using these furnishing and tools,
Asides from the recorded history in the paper archives, these furnishings and tools are also imprinted with precious memories
