Hi, I'm Dr. John Fritz, and today we're going to talk about how do you know if your child
is having a foot problem. One of the most common things I see are ingrown toenails in
the office. Usually when a child comes in, it's so horrific I ask myself, "How could
this get like this?"
Well, one of the most common things that children do is they won't show you their foot if it's
bothering them. They'll keep their socks on. They'll keep their shoes on in the house and
hide it from you. So if your child is not showing you their foot, there may be something
going on beneath.
The other thing that we see is with children who have foot pain they stop doing activities
that they love. If they were playing soccer all the time and suddenly stop, this may be
a sign that they're having foot or arch pain. If they can't keep up with their friends,
it's also another sign. Unwillingness to participate in gym class is also quite common. Often children
will complain that their feet feel tired when in fact they are having pain.
So if your child is exhibiting any of these signs or symptoms, call us. We can help.
