In retrospect, certainly that whole experience, that summer, changed my life.
It just changed the way I looked at the world, and politics, certainly our government.
It changed the way I decided to become educated, and I wanted to come back.
I came back one summer to work for Congressman Jim Jones from Oklahoma.
And I decided that summer that I wanted to come back to go to graduate school at GW [George Washington University], they had a program there I wanted to be in, too.
So without that original experience those things would not have happened, I feel confident.
So it certainly changed my life. And in retrospect, looking back when you’re a fighter for things you believe in, you just are. And I’m still that way . . . .
