Welcome back to the Getting Started with Oracle Endeca Information Discovery v3.0 screencast series.
This is the beginning of Part 4 -- Updating Configuration.
This screencast will provide an introduction to the various ways you can enhance the user experience of your application through
incremental feature configuration.
To see the entire screencast series, see the playlist on the Oracle Endeca Information Discovery Channel.
In the previous screencasts, we loaded 2 data sources -- SalesFacts and EmployeeDim.
Before getting into configuration, I skipped ahead and loaded all of the other data sources from the Bikestore application.
View the DataLoad graph from the Getting Started application to see how to configure loading all of the data.
Note that the join type was an inner join, vs. the left outer join we used earlier.
So only records that had a match across all keys in all the data sources were loaded into the bikestore data domain --
which was a total of 60117 records.
Once the data is loaded, you can update many of the schema and configuration options as needed to enhance the user experience.
This approach enables iterative application design, allowing you to grow and change the application through incremental feature
configuration, rather than needing to know all of the requirements upfront
The next few screencasts are only going to cover a few of the capabilities available through configuration that will enable you to enhance the
user experience. Consult our documentation for other configuration topics.
As you watch the next few screencasts, you'll see two different ways of managing the configuration for these capabilities.
In many cases, especially for a mature application, you'll likely manage the configuration externally,
such as in a database, an MDM system, or a spreadsheet, and use Integrator to load them into the system.
In other cases, you'll utilize the Studio Application Settings for managing configuration,
which we'll also demonstrate in the following screencasts.
There are a number of factors to consider when making these decisions, so consult our documentation for guidance on this topic.
In this screencast, you received an introduction to enhancing the user experience of your application through incremental feature
configuration. The next screencast in the series will show you how to enable record search.
