Hi there, I'm Roberto. Hope you guys are doing well.
Let's talk about taking risks. You have probably heard stories about people
who jump out of windows from burning multi-story buildings.
And it's easy to understand that in such a situation you would rather risk breaking your
legs and/or your arms rather than dying burning in flames or suffocated by smoke.
And while with some luck, most of us will never have to get to that point, life is still
full of situations that require us to be bold and take some risks.
As many of you guys who have been subscribed to the channel already know, I have been meaning
to relocate back to the United States and find a job there.
I have spent months filling out job applications, vulnerable by sharing so much private information
in a résumé with so many different companies, and things weren't really working.
It turns out telling a company, "Hey I'm fully available and I have no issues moving to where
you are located", yeah that didn't rally cut it.
And because it would be insane to keep doing the same thing over and over again, even though
it's not getting the results that you expect, well I had to change my tactic.
It turns out telling companies, "Hey, I am relocating to your city two weeks from now"
actually worked! I had a job interview over the phone with
a recruiter and I passed that interview just fine, and was asked to do a second interview,
this time in person. So now I have a reason to get those wheels
of relocation rolling. But that said, I'm still taking a huge risk
with this. I filled out countless job applications from
many cities I could see myself moving to and well, the one that got me this far into the
process happens to be in the LA area. But I took the risk and bought a one way plane
ticket and will be arriving in LA later this week.
And like I said, I'm going to a second interview; it's not like I already got the job.
But you know what? Sitting on my butt here wasn't getting me
anywhere so I'm willing to take that risk. I'm willing to work hard to make that happen,
whether it's with this company or with some other company there.
And I know by now many of you guys are probably thinking:
"Oh my gosh! You are going to meet so many YouTubers; you are going to do so many collabs!"
Hey, I can already imagine it. I have seen people complain, "Hey I see you
everywhere", just by seeing my comments on other people's videos.
Imagine if they saw me everywhere, not in the comments but in other people's videos.
World domination! [evil laugh]
But the simple answer is no, at least not at this time.
You know, as much as I look forward to meeting other YouTubers and to the potential for some
collabs, I have my priorities in order and that include first and foremost securing that
day job that I need to survive there, and finding a place to live.
I know of so many people who can enrich my life but I want to be able to enrich theirs
too, so I have to get my act together first. But still the question is: what's going to
happen with this channel? Well, video production is going to slow down
for a while. So instead of one or two videos per week,
it might be just one video every other week. Maybe I can get a phone where I can upload
an occasional lifecast vlog and share some of that experience with you guys.
How the heck am I going to survive in LA? I can tell you one thing.
I have no other choice but to master that overly complicated LA public transportation
system. Did you know LA has one of the largest bus
and train systems in the entire nation? They are only surpassed by New York City.
And yet they have no centralized location like Manhattan, so it's a whole mess.
But you know what? Challenge accepted. So yeah, I'm about to start a new chapter
in my life and I want to share some of that with you guys.
You can follow any of my social media profiles linked in the doobly-doo below the Like button
