Okay so finally we have a shot. The best shots to chip are the ones that are a little short
of the hole and the hole is sloping upwards which means I'm hitting into the hill, the
slope of the hill, and it is much easier to control the ball this way so finally we get
an easy shot. So all you want to do here is use the slope of the hole. Now I'm just going
to pitch the ball in this example. We are just going to try to roll it up the hill.
So this is where I want to be is below the hole because if I leave my chip short I have
an uphill putt which is the easiest one to control. So if I hit this chip too long I
would then be above the hole which then creates a downhill putt which can be a more difficult
putt to make because the ball will gather speed as it rolls back downhill. So I want
to just keep this one short, either at the pin or short of it so that way I'm not facing
the downhill putt. So you want to just focus on getting it close but not past it. So this
is a pretty nice little chip. You get these a lot if you are a little short on your shot.
If you didn't take the wind into account enough, if you didn't have enough club or if for whatever
reason you are short so this is a good reason but you've got to convert when you are here
so work on this shot a lot and once again you will see the number of strokes in your
game decline dramatically.
