>> I'm Dr. Erica Miller, author of Thanks For My Journey.
I don't have a concept of failure.
There is no such thing as failure, it's trying things,
experiencing life without being worried about the outcome.
You fall down, you pick yourself up and you try again.
Failure keeps people from experiencing their passion,
living their life fully, fear of failing, such a shame.
There's a song, What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger, and that's exactly so.
Failure makes us stronger, makes us wiser.
I don't know what failure means, it means some enterprises that you attempt, don't go your way.
You talk to, to successful business people, they've had some things
that didn't work their way, but again, that kind of notion that you have to worry that,
that you might fail, that's the reason so many people don't live out their passion,
don't start any new ventures, because they are afraid of failure.
And I think that it's so very much modeled and being a parent is a real big challenge
and here I try to not be judgmental at all,
but some people should learn first and not be parents.
Some are so negative, don't try, you might fail, everybody's smarter than you.
The messages that children sometimes get, those that are afraid of their shadow,
that's absolutely painful to watch.
And I know many people in my practice over the years, that kind of self esteem,
they have all the reason to be proud of themselves, but this little voice
of dear mother, or maybe not so dear mother or father or somebody, don't try, you may fail,
especially people from Depression Era.
So I promote the notion, it's all right to fall down if you pick yourself up.
Life sometimes sucks, so be it, but embrace it all.
There is really no failure, it would be such a shame if you would not try to,
to follow your passion, or try anything, other than of course, walking on the freeway,
you know, for you not to try because fear of failure.
You have to embrace and to go for it, just like yours truly has done,
all her life and keeps on doing it.
