And there we go! I'm "Blogging In My Bathrobe". I threw on some jammas because this bathrobe
is...well yeah I threw on some jammas! So there ya go. I have been trying to do this
one for a week now. I took several tries at it with the camera yesterday; I didn't like
the way any of them sounded or came out. It was a lot warmer yesterday and I was out on
the front porch trying to do this but "What is it you trying to do?" you ask. I have talked
a little bit about the move coming up after the first of the year. My children and I are
moving from GA to CO so I thought what better to do than a top ten list of things that I
will miss about GA. Now I made a list so I am going to sit it up here and if it looks
like I am reading then I obviously am reading... SO Number Ten
Family and Friends That's obvious, you know that has to be on
there. I am 41 years old and I have lived in GA my entire life, not always in the same
town but I always come back to my home town. Shout out to Grantville, Coweta County and
all the Walking Dead filming going on in or near Grantvile. Family and friends, most definitely.
It is going to be hard just talking to them like this, over a computer.
Number Nine The North Georgia Mountains
This is Wildcat Creek, Coleman River and "Shooting The ***" in Helen going tubing.
coolrivertubing.com I have some great memories up there and I'm
going to miss not being able to hop in the car and make a weekend trip to the N. GA Mtns.
now we have the Rocky Mtns., right? Number Eight
Four Full Seasons I love Autumn in GA. Right now we are tip
toeing away from Autumn weather and right into Winter weather. I'm cranking up the heat. Not
bad for almost Thanksgiving. I absolutely love having four full seasons. I don't mind
having a GA type winter, we don't get a lot of snow.
Number Seven Brunswick Stew with my BBQ
Ok I get it ,the Irish want to call it Mulligan Stew, some places call it Burgoo, some call
it Booyah. I don't know that for a fact I just read it on Wiki. Burgoo, Mulligan Stew
...yeah yeah But Brunswick Stew does not have rabbit, it does not have potatoes, it has
corn, it has lima beans, it has pork sausage, maybe a little beef, a little chicken. Yeah,
nobody makes brunswick stew like we do in GA. Brunswick, GA
Number Six The Fox Theater
The Fox Theater is absolutely gorgeous. I mean just walking into the bathrooms at the
Fox Theater makes it feel like you are walking into the bathrooms in Heaven. Ya know? I mean
if Heaven has bathrooms. These bathrooms are gorgeous not just the sitting area before
you enter...anyway. I had a friend of mine mention it and I was like, "Oh yeah I love
those." He was discussing that the mens bathrooms are just as nice as the others. So there ya
go. Enjoy the bathrooms at the Fox Theater. I have seen Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland,
of course I have seen CATS - multiple times, Phantom of the Opera, Nutcracker... I realized
yesterday while doing this on take 2, take 3, whatever... I have never taken my children
to the Fox Theater. So that's a new list. That's my to-do list before (sorry, it is
something about seeing my hair, I have to play with it.) So we are taking the kids...uh
"we" - "I" (still not use to that pronoun change) I will are taking the kids to the
Fox. Shake out of that maudlin feeling...
Number Five Another big tradition, before my husband passed
away was going to Stone Mountain for their chili cook off. It is huge, it is awesome.
We would camp out at the Stn. Mtn. campground and eat our fill of chili, listen to the cover
bands, walk around, go back to the campsite. If we were hungry again later we would go
back to the chili cook off and yeah, that was fun camping. From what I understand, it
has grown to big for Stn. Mtn. and this past year it wasn't even held at Stn. Mtn. it was
held at the Conyers International Horse Park. So I guess that tradition was gone whether
we stay in GA or not. Number Four
Being a 5-ish hour drive away from the Ocean. I'm not going to have that in Colorado. I
can head out to Savannah, head down to the Gulf, do the Redneck Riviera. I had never
been to the "Redneck Riviera" which if you don't know that is Panama City Beach until
Imarried my husband. We were taking a trip to New Orleans and he was like, " You have
never been to the Gulf of Mexico? Your parents never did that?" No, my parents were older.
They didn't want to go hanging out with all the drinking and the craziness. So he took
a detour in the middle of the night and the other couple in the car with us had no idea
what we were doing. They woke up in the backseat and we were in PCB so I could dip my toes
at 2am or whatever time it was in the middle of the night, in the ocean...in the Gulf of
Mexico. I'd been to New Jersey and the Boardwalk... Why my parents let me swim there I have no
idea. I spent my 13th birthday in California and my Aunt took me to one of those little
pebbly Pacific Ocean beaches. Ehh, so yeah, being a 5 hour drive from the ocean. No oceans
in Colorado, that I'm aware of. Number Three
Back to food, I'm a big girl. It is a lot about food.
Number Three Eating At The Varsity!!!!
OMG... It is the food of the Gods! Of course if you eat it to often you will get to see
God a lot quicker! Or up there not over there. Yeah, God is sitting right beside me, you
see him? But God likes chili cheese dogs too, right? I don't know, anyway... that's what
I like - chili cheese slaw dogs, an order of onion rings and The Varsity makes their
very own orange drink , they make the best Frozen Orange. Orange Julius can kiss my tail!
The Varsity has the best Frozen Orange. So if you come to Atlanta make sure you hit The
Varsity. Number Two
Being an extra in a movie... In GA it is as easy falling off a bike, seriously!
There is so much being filmed in GA and so many big, big budget films. If you are slim
and you lived in GA you probably worked on Hunger Games these last couple months. They
were really looking hard...they had a lot of parts to fill. Hunger Games, gosh I mean
talking specifically about my home town... The Walking Dead has been the greatest thing
in the world for our little town. Tours and...look up Mayor Jim Sells and his free Walking Dead
tour. But yeah, that's going to be another video I make before I leave is just how to
do it (*Be an Extra*) how to use Facebook, what to bring when you go in for the job.
They don't give "on the job training." You best know what you are doing when you get
there or they have plenty to pick from. I say it is easy to get but you have to use
a little common sense to keep getting them. Anyway, I will do a whole video on that one.
You want to hear number one. The number one thing that I am going to miss about living
in Georgia is going to Dragon Con on Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, GA. Now, I have tons
of friends (*that fly in) I have 2 friends from MI that came down, Lucas is 9 years old,
they threw me my baby shower at Dragon Con - Jerry and Jerri from MI-. Yes, so I mean
I realize people come from all over the country. Just because I am in CO doesn't mean I'm not
going to be able to do Dragon Con. Honestly, you do not know how many years I was able
to do Dragon Con because I drove back and forth the 45 minutes into Atlanta everyday
and just didn't have to pay hotel charges. Or I'd volunteer...that's another thing...
Dragon Con is always a different experience. It is...I'm going to say the world's largest
science fiction convention and Comic Con can kiss my tuchus. Because Comic Con in San Diego
is more for the advertisers. I would love to get to see the actors, I'm not saying I
don't want to go to Comic Con as a matter of fact my kids are really excited that now
that we are moving to Colorado we are a little bit closer to San Diego than we will be to
Atlanta so they are hoping for one trip, at least one trip to San Diego Comic Con. But
for a fan, for a cos-player, for a gamer, for everybody else that is not really interested
in what is on right now...as much as they love it, whether it be True Blood, The Big
*** Theory, or what's that dog show? I got into it for about one season , the guy in
the dog suit? Wilfred! I think they had a whole bunch of Wilfred's at the SDCC the year
that came out. I really expected that to transfer to Dragon Con. And there wasn't really a big
cos play influence of that particular character. Yeah Dragon Con, I have so many friends, Mike
and Lisa do a lot of stuff for Dragon Con, the Guinness Book of World Record's Most People
Dancing to Thriller Attempt. Paula's other friend Lisa...a friend of a friend... that's
always it. You always know somebody and if you don't know somebody at DC that does something,
you know somebody that knows somebody. Seventeen years of going to Dragon Con, not consecutive
years... there was one 13 years ago that I missed. I was very pregnant with my 13 year
old daughter. Yeah, I'm really going to miss Dragon Con. That's another thing Roger got
me into. He took me to my very first Dragon Con.
So there's my top ten things that I'm going to miss about living in GA or course I can
always fly back for these things but ya know money's not always there for flying back.
I hope you enjoyed it and maybe give me some suggestions of things I can replace them with
in Colorado. I'm going to say good bye from "Blogging In My Bathrobe". I'm going to go
edit this and look at it, fiddle with it and hopefully this will be the one that goes up
and I'll be happy with it
