Dear friends of the Miniatur Wunderland.
Every year something special happens on this day:
The hectic pre-Christmas season turns into the holy time of Christmas Eve.
The past few weeks were probably rather stressful for many people.
Especially in this year, the first year of the economic crisis,
many of us had additional worries apart from the usual pre-Christmas stress,
worries about their employment and their future.
That can be quite difficult.
But starting today a calm, a peaceful time begins.
According to a survey most people not only wish for a merry
but also for an inspired Christmas.
What does inspired actually mean?
It's one of those typical Christmas words, just like "holy" oder "blessed".
Inspiration includes the word "spirit".
On Christmas we feel the true spirit of our lives.
Perhaps also where we have lost this spirit.
Reflecting the meaning of the Christmas spirit may give
a new direction to ones life.
We feel comfortable if we find something meaningful in our lives.
Then we know where and to whom we belong.
Who we love and who loves us.
We feel accepted and secure.
Secure relations where I feel at home give meaning to my life.
That's why family plays such an important part on Christmas.
We celebrate with our parents or siblings.
Those who don't have a family invite friends
because it is important to them and they make life worth living, even meaningful.
But inspiration also appeals to our senses.
Christmas is a feast for the senses.
The candle-light and the Christmas decorations for the eyes.
The cookies, the cinnamon and the fir sprigs for our sense of smell.
The good food for the sense of taste.
The festive music or also collective singing for the ears.
And last but not least, a heartfelt embrace with a loved one.
All senses are touched on the Holy Night.
This is no coincidence, but it is connected with the spirit of Christmas.
The incarnation of Christ manifests itself in a child.
In a little child in a crib.
He doesn't appear majestically or royal,
heavenly distant or unapproachable,
but utterly human.
Real - as a little baby to hold and to love.
Little children exude a very special fascination:
Almost everybody who sees a baby can't help but smile.
Little children win our love immediatley.
And thus, God appears in our very lives.
Herein lies the spirit of Christmas.
In this spirit I wish you a Merry - and inspiring - Christmas.
