Welcome to Yamaha Musicsoft's guide to downloading PianoSoft.
There are two basic types of PianoSoft downloads - MusicSoft Downloader files that need to be downloaded directly on to floppy disks,
and MIDI files that you can download and transfer directly to a USB flash drive.
Let's start with directions for MIDI file PianoSoft.
To download, first click the download link for your order, either on your order complete page or in your order history.
You’ll be prompted to choose to open or download the file.
Choose to save the file. You can save it anywhere you want.
Choose a location and click ok to save it.
These downloads will come as a zip files, which means they’ve been compressed and can’t be read by your keyboard.
To use them, you’ll first need to unzip them.
On most Windows computers, you can unzip the file by double clicking it, then dragging the file that appears into another location.
If this doesn’t work for you, you can download the free WinZip application at www.winzip.com.
The process will be basically the same on a Macintosh.
If you need a program to unzip the files, you can download stuffit expander at www.stuffit.com.
So, once you have the file downloaded and unzipped, how do you get it on to your keyboard?
If your keyboard has a USB to Device port, the easiest way is to use a USB flash drive.
After you’ve downloaded a file, and made sure that is unzipped,
you can plug a USB flash drive into your computer, and just drag the file onto the drive.
Then, remove the drive from your computer and insert it into the USB to Device port on your keyboard.
Now, you can save the PianoSoft on your keyboard, or play it back directly from the flash drive.
Either way, you first need to find the file on your USB drive.
To do so, navigate to the USB drive on your keyboard.
From here you can select the PianoSoft to load it directly from the drive,
or copy and paste the file to your user files, saving it for later use.
If your instrument doesn’t have a USB to Device port, you can use a floppy disk, or smart media card get the PianoSoft onto your keyboard.
To use a floppy disk or smart media card, the procedure is almost exactly the same as using a USB flash drive.
Just insert a blank disk into your computer and then drag your file onto the disk.
Then insert the disk in your keyboard and transfer it the same way you would from a USB drive.
In some cases, you’ll need to use the free MusicSoft Downlader program to download PianoSoft software.
In these cases, you'll use MusicSoft Downloader to download the software directly to a floppy disk.
You can download the free MusicSoft downloader program at this location. (www.yamahamusicsoft.com)
Be advised that MusicSoft Downloader is not Macintosh compatible.
To download, first make sure you have MusicSoft Downloader installed, and a floppy disk inserted in your disk drive.
Then click “download” in your account or order complete screen as you normally would,
but instead of choosing to download the file, choose to open it with MusicSoft Downloader.
Next, you can choose what type of disk you are using.
Unless you are using PianoSoft on an old Disklavier or Clavinova with double density disks, choose HD then click ok.
MusicSoft Downloader will then automatically format your disk, and download the PianoSoft files onto it.
Using one of these methods you should be able to download all of your files and load them on your instrument.
