Hey guys Danny from Danny Mac's Kitchen Today is a quick how to presentation
on how to properly cut open a pineapple because I'm sure there's a bunch of
you out there that just don't know how to do it properly
I really love pineapple, not only because it is juicy and absolutely delicious
but because it is really good for you as well...it is high in vitamin A,
vitamin C, Calcium, Potassium Doesn't have a lot of calories
in fact 1 cup equates to about 80 calories which isn't that bad at all and
I just think it's a really cool, interesting, odd fruit
You probably didn't know this but it takes about 3 years for a pineapple
to reach maturation, which is why it is so expensive sometimes in the supermarket
Just takes a really, really long time So let's get to it and I'll show you
how to cut it up properly So when choosing a pineapple
Really you want to have different colors in there especially yellows, you don't
want it to be solid green and you don't want it to be hard as a rock
You wanna, you know, touch it Find one's that are a little bit soft because
those are going to be your sweeter pineapples First thing you need to do is
cut the base off and discard it we really can't do anything with that
Next up, cut the top off Here is a fun fact
You can actually save this and you can actually plant this
and actually dry this for 2 days, plant it and you're going to have
a little pineapple plant going on takes a long time though I've tried it
but it's pretty cool Next up, stand up the pineapple
Just want you to remember that the sweetest part of the pineapple is
towards the skin so don't go too crazy when cutting the skin off
Ok just do that all around See these pockmarks?
It's ok if you have that It's fine
Ok we're almost there That smells so sweet and delicious
Alright...Next up There is a core
right in the center of the pineapple Which we're going to cut around because
the core is really not edible it's really, really fibrous
So just go ahead cut around that We got a juicy one that's for sure!
Very excited! So discard the core
Get rid of the skin I still have some additional skin
on the bottom here that I need to get off Not a big deal
Ok, really it's up to you now to slice it and cut it into any shape
you desire, you can just slice it as so You can go a step further than that
You can make it smaller You can cube it
You can really do whatever you want If you want to put it in fruit salads
That's cool, eat it by itself and that's pretty much it
That's how you cut a pineapple So guys I hope you learned
something new today about our favorite friend the pineapple
It was really super easy wasn't it? I told you
Until next time Danny from Danny Mac's Kitchen
