You'll never see me coming; just like the voice of reason said
You better drop that joint; don't fry your brain and leave em brain cells dead
I did what I'm supposed to do; I right the wrong that I clung to
The pavements hard; too hard for you to ever be able to get used to you
You claim your place; what's left to chase; you think your life will show its face?
To be inspired's to be retired and if you're tired you might get fired
You keep on stepping; you keep on porting, a lifestyle that you are supporting
To be a soldier means to sell your soul, you may not agree 'til you fill that hole
This might not of be what I have dreamt; but I'll be damned if I don't get wet
Make a splash within this industry; always been the fantasy,
But reality is not without its generosity, but no one has the time for some curiosity
You can name anyone and there was always somebody who made them great
I say great with the loosely defined version as of late
Numbers reflect in volumes and all of that is categorized
Which can be stencilled down in graphs to predict the fall or rise
Of any given genre to mass market based on trends
Well bend my ear; I have no fear; this industry is all pretend
I am not around to just wash glasses and pay rent
I have the knowledge and the intellect to earn the title of much respect
At the forefront of something that will change the way we can relate
Is just tugging at the hand where destiny is more then fate
For what it's worth I've known that a precious thing will take some time
So kick it in the basement while this prodigy perfects his rhymes.
Ain't no love lost; just the simple truth What's preordained is just this troubled youth
What matters most is what we listen to So try for once to make some sense of what
we have succumbed to.
But no love lost; Not a single ounce The devastating frost will be a fatal pounce
So what really matters is how we subdue For now we just accept what music has come
to.
It's like the entire thing will only amount to just one common goal
But what seems common it won't keep coming if it comes to just a tender soul
That's been vaporized and sucked up just like the rapture
poachers out to find their talent with so many to be captured
With little more than a pretty face and high pitched voice and nothing to say
The ideal pawn that can be moulded by influences keen on scolding
That change their old ideals, if they ever had any,
and can result if they get lucky in a pretty *** penny
And I've never been one to vent but I can't stand it where it went, that on the one hand
you have those who battle and those who are rounded and traded like cattle
Guess that's just the path that these suckers have to take
And can't ever amount to anything more than a silly fake.
I've been down with the acting; got two degree's and a gentle ease,
but struggled with truth within my youth but I'm glad that I've seen the proof.
with every role and brand new hole I had to fill and forgot about me.
You see, it has to be me; Not just an idea of a character choice; with
my own voice and my own views, And allowing other things to choose exactly
what I use if I want to ignite and burn with my temperamental
fuse.
But within direction and confidence I missed a lot seeking out my bliss;
That's why I rage; eternal cage, but now we start that brand new page.
Digging deeper in myself and let out everything I'd forced inside
but it never did much but add distain upon this ride.
It made me bitter, so has the work; holding down a job that kills my spirit; that's how
I hear it. I used to fear it; being stuck in employment;
all of it to do with my lack of life's enjoyment.
The universe has dealt its hand; now I return to my grace land,
within this sand the time has ran and runs its course and expels its force.
But no need to kick it now; got my goals and my know-how;
I'll keep it all profound and leave the rest to upon the ground.
Ain't no love lost; just the simple truth What's preordained is just this troubled youth
What matters most is what we listen to So try for once to make some sense of what
we have succumbed to.
But no love lost; not a single ounce The devastating frost will be a fatal pounce
So what really matters is how we subdue For now we just accept what music has come
to.
