With two sleeps until Christmas,
although some may be on holiday or out shopping,
the Auckland City Mission has been bombarded with people
seeking assistance,
and even some adoptive families.
It's chaos at the Auckland City Mission.
And with two days to go until Christmas,
staff and resources are being stretched to the limit.
But for each and every one of the 30 volunteers,
it's all in the name of giving to those less fortunate.
Around 250 families and individuals
have sought help from the Mission every day in the last two weeks.
And for most, the wait can take up to eight hours or longer.
The Mission's handed out over 5000 food and gift parcels
during this festive season,
a figure that's doubled from last year.
Auckland's giving spirit is evident.
Every minute, more presents are donated.
It'll all be done by 6pm tomorrow
as the mission prepares for its annual Christmas lunch
to be held at the Viaduct Events Centre.
