>>SARAH DAFF: I’m in the final year of my PE degree. I’ve always been interested in
sport and was looking for a job where I could have a positive impact on people’s lives.
AT RMIT you start teaching rounds within the first two months. Early placements were a
great way for me to figure out if this was what I really wanted to do.
I’ve completed 9 placements in both Primary and Secondary Schools and also taught people
with disabilities.
On placement we’re paired with a supervising teacher who helps us reflect on our lesson
and highlight key areas we need to work on.
The 8 week teaching block during final year really makes you feel a part of the whole
school culture.
There are just 60 students in my year and I know everyone. I’ve made some really good
friends.
The highlight of my degree was when I travelled to Singapore to complete a teaching placement.
I just secured a job at a secondary school that starts next year. I’m really looking
forward to having my own classes.
