Yeah, hello YouTube! Eric Legaud from Galago Music, still in... electric!
Today, for you, the riff that Marylin Manson has covered from the Eurythmics track,
Sweet Dreams I love this. Or these, actually.
There are three power chords which move around, with little extensions,
it's an interesting exercice, it'll allow you to work on the
the maximum distance you can have between two fingers.
So as to gain in flexibility!
So right away, a zoom on the left hand to see those extentions, and this should do it. Very quick today!
So, for the riff we'll have three positions.
So a power chord, you place the index on the 3rd fret of A, and the ring finger on the 5th fret of D.
You can start by struming them together, to see if there's any sound.
Second positon, we keep the same shape and we place it on the 4th fret of E, 6th fret of A.
And final position, one fret below. 3rd fret of E, 5th of A.
There you are. Er, it seems to me that in the intro I did in the beginning,
I played everything one fret below, like a big schmuck,
so, no, you don't do that. The beginning really is on the 3rd fret of A.
Digression, over.
So you start by working, for a start, the placing of the power chords.
OK? Next we'll add the little notes.
So we will alternate the two strings of each power chord.
Ok, so A string, D, and A again.
1, 2, 3, 4.
I'm trying to show you properly!
This is when we're gonna do an extention with the pinkie,
which will fetch the 6th fret,
I mean the note which is just above this finger.
So 6th fret of the D string.
Next, on this position there won't be any extention, but a little slide.
i.e I do my power chord, I strum the E string twice,
the A string once, and then I absolutely do not lose the pressure on the finger,
and I do not strum again, I just slide but keeping the pressure on the neck.
Ok final position,
same thing, but I just slide one fret only.
I'll do it again!
Faster.
There you are, if you wanna accompany yourself on the whole song, most of the time I only do down strokes.
And when you're tired with it,
you go back to the riff mode.
