In the natural course of events, kids sound off when they're hungry, wet, or just plain bored.
But sometimes they cry for other reasons. [inset video caption] Stop touching me [crying]
[Dragnet theme]
Dear God, I had no idea.
Not many people have, Mrs. Sadler. That's why we welcome the opportunity to talk to clubs like yours. Kids need all the friends they can find.
These pictures - they're just unbelievable.
Yes m'am.
How much of this goes on?
Too much, Mrs. Sadler.
They're so tiny.
That's why we hear about them. They cry. Somebody gets worried or annoyed and calls us. The older ones aren't so fortunate.
I don't understand.
Well, older children are usually bewildered and ashamed. They rarely tell anyone, and they cry in private, and nobody hears them.
Why? What excuses could they possibly offer?
I'll see you on the twenty-second, 12:30 sharp.
Thank you so much.
Now, would you like us to show you the way out?
I think I'd like to sit here for a little longer if you don't mind.
You stay as long as you'd like, Mrs. Sadler.
Thank you.
Now, the photograph of this little two-year old I just showed you - my partner and I handled that case.
Calling the police could be terribly embarassing if it turned out our suspicions were wrong.
You're asking me what happens if there isn't sufficient proof to obtain a criminal complaint, aren't you? That's our first objective.
Our laws are designed to protect the child - they come first.
Now, these pictures that we've shown you - they were not taken in Dachau or Auschwitz. They were taken right here in this city.
Don't let that happen. Help us help those infants and children who cannot speak up for themselves. Thank you.
