Welcome to Knowledge Management 610.
I am the instructor, Abe Feinberg,
professor of systems and operations management
at California State University, Northridge (CSUN).
I hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and
a master's in industrial management from MIT,
and a Ph.D. in business administration from UCLA
with a concentration in operations research and a subspecialty in decision analysis.
At CSUN, I have developed and taught courses and seminars in operations management,
decision support systems, strategic management, and statistics.
While working at Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory,
I gained valuable experience in such KM-related fields as
decision analysis and decision support systems.
I have written for publications such as Management Science,
the Journal of Audio Engineering, Policy Studies, Omega, Concurrency,
and Transactions on Engineering Management of the IEEE.
With a live cohort of students,
I taught a Knowledge Management class
here at CSUN College of Extended Learning in the Spring of 2006.
This experience, one of the best I have ever had,
has helped shape the course that you are about to take on-line.
In this on-line course, you will be exposed
to some of the central areas of the rapidly growing
field of Knowledge Management, and encouraged to
become an interactive participant in the course and in the field.
