Volei Futuro's libero Stacy Sykora is on her way home to USA
On this friday the player was released from the hospital
almost one month after the accident with the team's bus.
Before traveling she talked about the recovering period.
24 days ago Stacy was very close to death
but could someone believe that seeing her like this?
Only the scar on the head that still bothers.
How were you?
Oh 'mamma mia', I was very...
I saw pictures of myself. 'Mamma mia', incredible.
Stacy has no memories of the accident.
I couldn't do anything, my body was unfamiliar, incredible.
But I could understand things, that's something important,
I could understand my life.
The first estimate of the doctors was a hospital stay of 90 days.
The libero recovered in two weeks.
In one week I was playing...
In one week, in six days, I was very sick.
On friday, let's say, and on the other friday I was perfect, well.
I don't know why.
Were you afraid you wouldn't be able to play again?
No, never.
I was never afraid that I wouldn't play anymore
because I already knew that I would play, I already knew.
I don't know why and I can't say why,
but I can say that I already knew that I would play again.
Released by the doctors
Stacy Sykora has already a date to return to the court.
She was called by the U.S team
and should compete in August
in a tournament in Switzerland.
First thing they want to see me,
want to see how I am and then what can I do.
Because for one month I wasn't doing anything
so I have to work with the ball, have to do exercises,
do a lot of things.
The commitments to the american team
will end in November, then Stacy returns to Brazil
to defend, once again, Volei Futuro in Superliga.
I like Brazil very much
and I like the people here very much,
I hope they like me too.
I like Brazil a lot.
Brazil likes you too Stacy.
