Hi, Roy here!
The retune is the final step in Australia's move to digital-only TV and here's why its happening:
TV channels are transmitted to your home using radio frequency spectrum.
While you can't see it, there's only limited spectrum available.
So, instead of being spread out, all the digital TV channels are now going to be stacked together in new allocated slots.
This will leave more spectrum available for new services like mobile broadband.
Just like for the digital switchover, the Government has developed a plan to manage this change.
In order to move the channels, technicians will have to visit over 400 TV towers
which means the stacking process will have to happen at different times in different areas until the end of 2014.
After the channels have moved in your area all you'll need to do is retune your digital TV equipment,
to find the channels that have moved.
Watch my other videos on this website to find out what the retune is and how to retune!
Stay tuned for the retune!
