Consumers don’t necessary like flying
and their reasons for that. The problems really simple.
Americans are avoiding travel because the hassles in travel. Most hassles come from
as you've heard delays, cancellations. and long waits, and unpredictability in the security lines.
We’ve heard the horror stories
of travelers trapped without adequate food, water, or access to the medications, we've
heard about planes filled with screaming children, upset passengers, overflowing
toilets, an absolute disaster. Passengers couldn't even get a snack to tie them over. One of
the most horrific stories was the flight in Rochester, Minnesota. Where the people were
stranded threw out the entire night in
visual site of the airport.
Uh... because the airline and the pilot decided they couldn't get out, they couldn't open the
Windows. They had babies, and diapers, and backed up toilets.
It was like common-sense flew out the window but they couldn't open the windows. So it’s
very important to codify this passenger bill of rights, not just in the rules which are
key
uh... but also in this FAA reauthorization.
Every time a business
man or woman sits on a plane and waits and waits and waits their losing productive hours.
And if we want our country to be the most productive
we have to have transportation infrastructure; Land, sea. and air. And those who say we should
just cut back on infrastructure, just don't get it.
This is truly where the rubber meets the runway.
This is a jobs bill, this is a consumers' bill, this is an aviation bill.
It’s 280,000 jobs, not just in travel but all through the airports. Their so
important.
And has America moves
as we travel as goes our economy. So this is critical. We want this to happen. We've got
to have a 21st century system not a 19th century system and its critical for
everything and it's been said well. So we're extremely supportive of this bill. And we thank you for your
leadership.
