Hey guys! My name is Riqo and I'm in Russia, and we're here at "Monstration".
Happy labor day. It's May 1st, and I want to tell you about the May 1st demonstrations.
Originally, they were so that people could show their support of socialist ideas,
but after the crash of the soviet union, it became less popular to have these demonstrations.
In 2004, they started Monstration, which is kind of the play on words of "demonstration" and "monster" - Monstration
The 1st one had 80 people and last year they had 6666 people.
What people do; They come, they have signs with some kind of crazy thing written on it,
most of the time it doesn't even make sense.
But it's a way for people to come out and have fun.
They consider this day the first (real) day of spring
and this demonstration, this "Monstration" is probably just a way for people to enjoy spring.
It doesn't have any political connection.
And it gets pretty absurd. So we're gonna show you how absurd it is...
Alright guys, that was Monstration.
I skipped out a bit early, but it goes on for another two hours or so
and they even have some kind of after party.
Let me know if you liked it, and I'll try to frequent some more events like this.
Happy Labor day.
Until next time, bye bye.
