Alright we're looking at the Samsung R610.
This is, as my co-host Bauer puts it, a tweener size notebook.
It's 16", that's right. That's a 16" monitor.
Resolution is 1366 x 768, so, odd resolution.
But it does a pretty good job because it's right in between.
It's not as big as a 17". Definitely not as heavy.
This thing is about 6lbs. A little over 6lbs so it's not that heavy.
It's not as big as a 17, but it's not as small as a 15.4.
You get a nice resolution on there and it actually looks really sharp.
Looking at this notebook obviously you're gonna notice,
that it's red in the front. I mean, I don't know even what to say about that.
It's sort of like the touch of color series. Except they didn't really promote it,
as touch of color anywhere, on the box or anything.
So I guess it's not really. But it looks really hot,
and everyone that has seen this has really liked it so far.
I've been toting around the office today quite a bit.
So let's jump right into it. Alright, so, first thing.
This is definitely a Vista Home Premium system. Accordingly, it does have,
a Core 2 Duo Processor, from the Centrino line.
Front Intel section got the T5800. That's a 2.0 GHz Processor.
800 MHz Front side bus. It's got 2 MB's of L2 Cash,
and it has 3 GB of DDR2 Memory. Great power saving features as you can tell.
Which I'm going to adjust those so that it doesn't turn off every 30 seconds.
250 GB Hard Drive is also on board. You have fantastic looking case,
as I mentioned earlier. Let me show you the front of this.
This is a glossy front. So everyone's like Samsung, Samsung,
with their glossiness. This is back to the glossiness.
If you do not like the glossy fronts, do not get the R series.
Then you want to look at the P series. Those seem to be more oriented towards business.
Also on the screen right now, you'll notice the Samsung recovery solution 3.
This is their fully automated back-up and recovery system,
that automatically happens actually, on to a partition of the hard drive.
So you don't actually have to have an external hard drive or anything.
Works extremely well and is actually a one-touch solution,
which is actually a function key. It's actually F7, function F7,
will actually give you that one-touch restore.
Sort of like the Lenovos have and I think actually Sony Vaio,
used to have one like that too. But it's actually very intuitive,
and it works very very well. Backs up all your information,
as well as gives you a fresh restore point to go back to.
Now also on board, 802.11.n. So you have n draft wireless on board.
If you have a compatible router, it's going to give you a very large range,
and increase bandwidth. It also has Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR.
That's good if you are on the run, and you need the mobility.
6-Cell Battery. Excellent, excellent, 6-Cell Battery.
Battery life on this is about 4.5-5 hours of pretty consistent use.
It lasted 5 hours the first time I had charged it because,
I wasn't doing much. I was surfing the web.
And then I did a few other things, like on Photoshop,
and surfed the web more intensely, kinda like really surfing the web,
hitting refresh a lot, going to my reader, and you know, 5 hours is not bad from a 6-Cell.
So it definitely does a good job. It has a 1.3 Pixel Webcam built in right there.
As you can see that's great for Skype or Messenger, whatever you want.
And it has a ton of peripherals and connections so let's go over them.
Let me turn this puppy over. First of all, starting off from right over there,
that is your number 1, USB 2.0 Port, right there. So that's the first one.
This is your VGA right there, in case you want to hook up a monitor.
You have an HDMI in case you want to transfer 5 channel, 6 channel audio actually,
and a high definition video to a television, with one cable, which is awesome.
Your Input and your Output for your microphone and your headset,
and also you have an express card slot, right here. So if you want to add any peripherals,
like 3G cards or audio file cards, or whatever you want,
they do go there. They're are actually now 54 mm sound cards.
That's why I said audio file cards for laptops will give you 5.1 channel audio,
through the express card slot. Moving on to the other side,
you're going to see number 2, USB 2.0 Port on this side which is nice.
I like this because they have one on each side. That's very important.
I like them to be spread out. This is your DVD-RW Drive.
Pretty much will do, pretty much all your medias,
+R's, -R's, RW's, Ram Drams and then all the CD's that you can imagine.
Moving to the back you're going to see that you do have a Kensington lock right there.
In case you're using this in an office environment.
It's always nice to have that. You also have on this side all the good stuff.
2 more USB 2.0 Ports. That's 4 in total. That's a great amount.
That's one more than I could wish for. That's great.
Also you have a 56K Modem, which is a V92,
and a 10/100/1000 Giga Ethernet Connection, right there.
You're going to be hooking up your power, right there and another cool little feature,
that I like on these notebooks. You turn it over, see that right there,
you get a little battery meter. Kind of hijacked that from Apple.
But it's a great device and I like that. Ooh this is about to die.
See, 20% of the battery left. You know, without turning it on,
if it's going to die on you. And also they make it really easy,
to exchange on your hard drive. You want to exchange on your hard drive?
it's right there, very simple. You want to exchange on your memory?
Simple, it's right there, clearly marked.
So they kind of know that you might want to upgrade this in the future.
Or that you might not. They make it really simple. So whatever you want.
Very elegant looking laptop. You can look at it.
I'm going to leave it turned off, because it looks so sharp,
when it's all black with that red in the front. Very, very cool.
Again this is the R610 from Samsung. This is a specific configuration.
This one is the -64G. So that's the one with the 250 GB Hard Drive,
3 GB Ram. Very very nice notebook. If you have any questions on it email me.
That's it. See you guys next time.
