Hi! I'm Clara, and I live with Felix and our family in Stockholm.
I'm expecting my fourth child.
In this series, you'll follow me throughout my pregnancy.
PREGNANT - WEEK BY WEEK CLARA
Hi! This is Clara again. I'm now 32 weeks pregnant-
-and today, you're joining me for an ultrasound.
We are going to check the placement of the placenta.
When I did the big ultrasound in week 19-
-it turned out that my placenta was too low, somehow.
It's fairly common if you already have children.
Best case scenario, it has grown upward with the uterus.
If it hasn't, it remains too low and hinders the baby-
-so that you have to have a C-section.
So I'll find out today. It's both exciting and a bit scary.
The nice thing about a C-section is knowing when the baby comes.
Even though this is my fourth child, I know my head will be spinning-
-so it would be nice to know.
When my water broke, I called the hospital-
-and I was lucky enough to get a room so we went in that night.
We stayed the night, Felix was there, and we even got breakfast.
I had some contractions, but not bad at all.
Gudrun Abascal was my midwife, so she came in.
The nice thing that time compared to before-
-was that I realized what I had to do in terms of breathing and so on.
Later on, I also had an epidural.
Not nitrous oxide - it makes me sick.
This was my first epidural.
It was nice, because she asked about the epidural - I didn't.
When she asked, though, I felt that the timing was perfect.
After the epidural, it really wasn't tough at all-
-until it grew insanely hard, I guess toward the end of the dilation.
You hear people say this, but this was my first time:
"I can't take it anymore!"
She told me: "Good! It has to feel that way before it can turn around."
"It will be easier from now on." And that's exactly how it felt.
Felix's father is a doctor at the maternity ward-
-and he was working that day. Apparently, he was really worried.
He's usually very calm, but the midwives said he was pacing-
-like a mother hen outside our room, and he came in 8-10 times.
I didn't care about that at all. But just as I was pushing-
-I recall Gudrun saying: "Lars, leave this room at once!"
He had to run out, but he came back once I had the baby.
We are checking the placement of the placenta.
When you were here last to check on the fetus, during week 17 or 18-
-we felt that the placenta was too low.
We always do another check-up during week 32 or so.
-So the placement is good? -Yes.
Last time, we thought that the placenta was down here-
-but now we see that it has moved and is up here.
-So I don't need a C-section? -No, not this time.
I just did the ultrasound, and the placenta is in the right place.
So that's great - I don't need a C-section.
The doctor was great, very sweet. He told me that if the baby comes-
-on the expected due date, it will weigh 3 230 grams.
That's pretty much like all my children-
-so I'm sure that it's true. Bye now!
