Hello, my name is Anne Killen and I am the Director of Administrative Services. I am
also a Keuka College Alumna. Your student handbook contains a variety of information
that will be very important to you as a student in our Keuka College Accelerated Studies for
Adults program. I encourage you to take the time to review
your handbook and become familiar with the information that it has to offer. Your handbook
can be found on you Moodle course page under the college resources tab at the top of the
page. Now even though you have the opportunity to review this handbook at any time, there
are a few policies that are very important that I would like to talk to you about today.
First, is the attendance policy. As a member of a cohort, in an accelerated studies program,
your attendance is essential in each class session. Students who miss more than one class
session in a three or four credit course, cannot complete that course successfully and
you will be asked to withdraw from the class, To withdraw from the class you need to contact
your student advisor and complete the necessary paperwork. Your non attendance in a course
does not constitute a withdraw. If you are to miss a class, it is your responsibility
to contact your instructor and discuss the reasons you are missing the class and any
make up assignments that they have for you. Make up assignments will be the equivalent
of the four hours of class that you are missing. One question that is often asked is, how will
I know if my class is cancelled? Well, regardless of the reason, weather, instructor illness,
or cite closing, we follow the same procedure. Check your college main website at www. keuka.
edu. If there is a class cancelation, there will be a red bulletin displayed on the main
page with a link to more details. The website is updated as classes are cancelled
throughout the day. If your class is cancelled you should also check your Keuka College e-mail
and your Moodle course page for further information from your instructor and details about the
assignments. If you have any questions as a student, I encourage you to contact your
student advisor. You may contact us by calling toll free, 1-866-255-2852
and selecting option two. You maybe also e-mail us at asapadvisor@keuka.edu. Our staff members
are here to assist you. Whether it is a question about your class, additional forms that you
may need, withdrawing from a course, or even adding a course, our student advisors are
here to help. Thank you for taking the time to review your
student handbook and participating in online orientation. I look forward to seeing you
on graduation day.
