Hi Everyone! Arttoonz Studios welcomes you to it's free animation education page.
The topic which we are covering today is about facial expressions which is a second part
of our previous version. So let's see how to do expressions! Basically
we are covering only facial part which will a profile part only! And I hope that you will
like it and it is like a series of transaction from one expression to another ! So Enjoy!
Look for eye darts moment and eyes n eyebrows! see how chin is changing it's tone to the
Now it is sad expression! see how the eyes and eyebrows have changed!
Look out for chin! Heavy breathing with sad expression!
Head nod for the feel! Sudden change to another expression !
Expression is changing to more emotional anger !
Look for neck, chin & eyes reactions! shoulders
Head jerks! Expression changed shocked !
something out there! Changing to happiness !
See the reactions! Sweating!
See the acting..Observe the eyebrows and eyes! Something like thinking !
Fiends as you have seen in our videos only expressions has been done and the transactions
which are happening between the eye brows and eyes and chin. So some expressions I have
done in extreme so that you know how it reacts. Like if we do like this so how the chin is
reacting and eyes are getting wide as well as the eyebrows. One tip I would like to give
is that whenever you do eye animation make sure to move or animate eyebrows as well with
the same reaction. It is often seen in students and Jr.s that they don't animate eyebrows
a part reaction to it, than only it will be a complete eye blink in animation specially
we should be aware of this. Same whenever our eyes get narrow the eyebrows will react
as well. And when I am doing like this i.e my one eye
I am pulling it up the eyes will also get wide along with the eyebrows. Wide and down..
wide then down.. So aa this is slight wide but it is very important
while doing facial animation, it should not look robotic. Only one part is moving and
the other is not! Plus in this video you might have observed
that eye darts are happening which is very important . If I am looking that way then
the eye dart will behave like that as per the movements happening ! Usually eye darts
first move then only the rest of the body parts connected to it will move or react.
So eye dart is very important and whenever we are doing facial animation frontal view
in an acting shot then eye dart should be focused, as I have seen people not doing it,
because of eye darts the character become live, so always I would advise to use eye
My lead always used to call it *** eyed ! So this is how you have to see the details
from normal to anger to sad then happy, so try to catch the movement of it and learn
how the body reactions and observe that how it should be done.
So basically I have kept my acting part mute so that you can focus on the expressions rather
than my audio. Usually I advise students to mute the audio
and watch an animation movie so that one can understand and focus into animation actions
rather than the story! Observe how I have given exaggeration to my
movements ! As by doing this it will be help the story
to sell to the audience, so that's why it is so important and even my last tutorial
of facial expression I had explained that how eyes and eyebrows move and we should add
that this tutorial will help you in your future animation. And for our future tutorials please
