Hi! I am Mark Middlebrook and I am here in the Paul Marcus Wines cellar. And, in this
segment I am going to talk about Bugey Cerdon, the hedonistic sparkling rose from Eastern
France. Bugey Cerdon is a wine style that is made into a sparkler but a rose-style sparkler.
They start with red grapes. And, it is low alcohol for a wine, seven and a half percent,
which is a little more than the half the alcohol level of most regular table wines. It is bubbly
of course. It is a kind of a deeper rose color. You cannot quite see in this darker bottle.
And, it is absolutely delicious. It is a little bit sweet, but not so sweet that you cannot
have it just as a aperitif. It works also pretty well after a meal as a just a palate
cleansing kind of dessert wine. Or, with desserts that are not too sweet. This particular one,
the producer is Alain Renardat-Fache. One of the best in my opinion although there are
other good ones. I call stuff adult Kool-Aid because of its low alcohol and refreshing
quality. It is a great thing to just to drink with friends, particularly on a warm day.
So, expand your horizons a little bit and drink some Bugey Cerdon.
