Hello Friends! My name is Jenny, and today we are celebrating 100 subscribers! And what
better way than by having a pizza date!
We will be making a personal sized whole wheat pizza. It's really easy to prepare all of
the ingredients before hand, and let people chose their own toppings when it's time to
eat.
Lets start with the pizza sauce so that the ingredients have time to get tasty. All of
the ingredients will be listed down below.
Pizza Sauce
1/3 cup olive oil 1 1/2 c water
Tomatoes if you are making your own tomato paste
or you can use 1 (6 oz can) tomato paste, or 3/4ths cup.
Salt and pepper to taste 2 cloves garlic, minsed
1/2 tbsp oregano 1/2 tbsp dried basil
1/2 tsp rosemary
Then blend, or stir, together the tomato paste, garlic, water and olive oil
Add the oregano, basil, and rosemary.
Now for the dough, we will need 2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour (which can be substituted for an additional cup of all purpose flour)
2 tsp. olive oil 1 tsp. salt
1 0.25 ounce package active dry yeast
1.5 cups warm water 1 tsp. sugar
Garlic, fresh or powdered , and basil, to taste.
Corn meal
To proof the yeast, Make sure that your water is between 100-110 degrees, any cooler and
the yeast wont activate, and warmer can kill the yeast.
Add your teaspoon of sugar and still still it dissolves.
Then add your yeast packet and stir till you can't see the difference granules.
Cover the container with a towel because the yeast likes to work in the dark. Let it sit
for 1-10 minutes.
Then add your flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix this up until you have incorporated all
of the ingredients. Place the dough in a covered container and put it in the fridge for at
least 20 minutes.
While its in the fridge, preheat your oven to 350 and prepare your favorite toppings.
On a floured surface, knead the dough. The more sticky the dough, the more crisp the crust.
For a fluffyer dough, add flour until it no longer sticks to your hands. I didn't film
this part, but now is the time to add your basil and garlic, as much as you like. I added
a ton, and it wasn't too much.
Devide the dough. 3 balls is good for medium pizzas. 9 or 10 is good for personal sized
pizzas.
For the personal sized, take a pie dish and cover the bottom in corn meal.
Put one ball of dough in the center and press it outwards until it reaches the edge of the
pan. You want the dough to be very thin, because it will expand when cooking.
use a fork to poke the dough all around.
With the pie dish on a cookie sheet, put the dough in the oven for 5 minutes. When is comes
out, the dough should be cooked.
At this point, if this is for dinner later, you can put all of your preperations into
the fridge and clean up the mess for an easier clean up later. Or, if you are ready to eat
it soon, you can continue.
Add your sauce, cheese of choice, and other toppings then a bit more cheese, and pop that
pizza back into the oven for another five minutes.
And it's done!
But wait, for you adults, what is a nice homemade pizza without a little wine?
I got each of these pizza friendly wines from Trader Joe's for 6 dollars or less, and even
though I don't care as much for red wine, with these pizzas, each of them tasted great!
The Nero Dah Voh Lah, is my favorite, but I might be a little biased since it's made
in sciliy.
Thank you so much for helping us get to 100 subscribers!
