Whirlpool 4396508 Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com.
Today we’re looking at the Whirlpool KitchenAid 4396508. This is a typical carbon fridge filter
that you’re going to find on the base grill in front on Fridgidaire and Whirlpool model
refrigerators. It’s NSF Standard 42 and 53 certified and
removes a huge array of contaminants so it’s really a very good filter. But, if you want
just slightly better contaminant removal you can move up to the 4396510. It’s the exact
same filter, fitting inside of the exact same spot on those fridges that take the 6508.
But it has just slightly higher contaminant removal, most noticeably cysts and microorganisms.
Now the manufacturer has recently made a change to this filter that I want to make you aware
of. I’m going to zoom in here and show you a change that’s been made to the connection
piece. The manufacturer has changed these tabs. Soon,
some of you will begin receiving filters where this notch is filled in with plastic. Whether
it’s filled in or has the notch it will still fit in your refrigerator.
Both of these filters are rated for approximately six months of filter life depending on usage
and water quality. If you are a heavy water user or if you know you have problem water
you should change your filter more frequently than that. But never go any longer than six
months, it’s just a bad idea. So there you have it, the Whirlpool KitchenAid
4396508, and for slightly higher contaminant removal the 4396510.
I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
