Female narrator: O.S.U. Chemistry Ecampus uses OnlineChemLabs,
a virtual chemistry lab program produced by the company
OnlineLabs, and accessed entirely via the internet.
These interactive labs include animated,
functioning lab equipment,
such as analytical balances and pipettes
as well as more advanced instruments
that are seldom available to general chemistry students,
such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers,
also called N.M.R.,
and absorbance spectrometers.
Students learn by performing virtual experiments.
Each lab is divided into introductory,
experimental, and discussion sections.
O.S.U. works with OnlineLabs to ensure
that the learning materials employed
are scientifically credible,
educationally valuable, and technically robust.
There is a particular focus
on meaningful data collection and analysis.
Student inputs are recorded automatically
and made available to instructors
via online grade sheets.
A series of 25 experiments is available
to lead students through a full year
of general chemistry laboratory.
Lab topics include combustion analysis, titration,
electrochemistry, the colligative properties of solutions,
and many more.
Instructors will choose
some of the available labs each term,
depending on the course syllabi.
A full list of available experiments
and a wealth of additional information
can be found on the company website,
at www.onlinechemlabs.com.
