Welcome to the first episode of
Things your French teacher probably do not tell you
So...I'm gonna make an introductory episode and I want to tell you something first.
When I meet English-speakers who speaks....who knows how to speak French, and tells me:
Oh! But I do not understand the Quebec slang. I learned the French from France
And my reaction is....
***....no....no!
Ok. I just want to inform you: EVERY French-speaker... has the same French courses at school
with the same grammar, the same vocabulary, or almost
'Cause, We learn how to read and write..."properly" and "correctly" at school
And you, dear strangers, you probably have the same French courses as us
I mean, you learn to read and write French "correctly" and "properly", like us.
So...except, we speak daily the French our parents taught us so we have different dialects
So, yed. You have the same French courses as us and you don't learn the French from France
You learn an....international French, I must say.
So yeah...That's it.
I'm going to explain what I'll talk about in these videos
I call these videos: Things your French Teacher probably do not tell you
In short, it's videos for French as second language learners
That's why I speak...slower
I speak a 'lil...a little bit faster when I speak French naturally
and...yes. This video is for you, strangers,English-speakers as well who is learning French...Everyone...who is learning French
What you learn at school can be different from the reality... in the French communities of the world.
So I'm gonna talk about reality....the reality of Francophones
I will tell you that I am....Quebecker, so I don't know much about the French-speakers of Europe
the French people, Belgians, swisses
So, I'll ...I will talk more about the French-speakers of North America.
Quebeckers, Acadians...French-speakers outside Quebec, Franco-Ontarians, Franco-Manitobans
But also, Louisianians, Cajuns, who speaks French
So...that's it.
