Laramie County Community College's athletics logo has received a major overhaul.
It's very important to have a sleek, modern, well-produced logo
because it's going to be seen, over and over and over.
The previous logo came along in 2002 after the return of athletics at the college.
It's not very menacing. It's pretty benign, cartoonish looking,
doesn't necessarily reflect our fighting spirit, so to speak.
The new-look eagle packs a little more attitude, and better reflects
the competitive level of the Golden Eagle athletic teams.
I think the success of our student-athletes both in the community, in the classroom,
and on the court, or on the field, or in the arena has led to a lot of upgrades for
our athletics and the new logo is just one of them.
They had been wanting a change for a while.
Something that their players could be proud of to have on their jerseys.
Scott Souder in the PR office designed the new look.
He found inspiration from other modern logos and photos of actual golden eagles.
They just look mad all the time. They have messy hair and look a little angry about having messy hair.
The new angry eagle will start showing up on athletic materials, and team and fan apparel this season.
The former logo will still be seen in some places, as it will take time to make the transition.
I didn't realize so much goes into this. I just thought I'd make a pretty logo and we'd be all good,
but now there's all these shirts and decals and jerseys and it needs to go on banners
and the floor and everywhere. It's going everywhere!
The eagle has landed and will slowly start to make itself at home.
We just see the new logo as just another piece to what's going to be a very good year for our athletics.
