With the World Wide Developers Conference coming closer—rumors about what Apple will
unveil are growing.
You may have already heard speculations of a retina display on laptops and news about
the iPhone5 leaked by ETrade.
But some of the biggest rumors revolve around the next version of Apple’s mobile platform—iOS6,
which Apple has already put up banners for. So what is the upgrade expected to include?
PC Magazine says it points to deeper Facebook integration—similar to what Apple did with
Twitter last year— and you might even be seeing the ever-so popular personal assistant
Siri on the iPad.
And 9to5 Mac reports the iOS6 may be giving Google Maps the boot and picking up an in-house
3D mapping application.
“The application design is said to be fairly similar to the current Google Maps program
on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, but it is described as a much cleaner, faster, and
more reliable experience.”
And its not just software that’s getting an upgrade.
Tech Crunch mentions a much needed MacBook makeover that—even if we don’t get a glimpse
at the conference—it’s sure to happen soon after.
“MacBook Pro is long overdue for some new digs. It’s a safe bet that if it doesn’t
happen at WWDC—it is a developer’s conference after all—Apple will announce the new models
in the coming weeks to get a head start on the lucrative back to school season.”
And not just a new-do, but an entirely new batch of fresh apples.
Apple Insider published a list of possible product numbers that indicate as many as 14
new Mac models. The list allegedly on its way to Australia shows Apple sending a significant
amount of stock to resellers in time for a launch next week.
CNet names off a few of the upgraded items but doesn’t think it’s likely the tech
giant will give them all up in one conference.
“It includes MacBook Airs, MacBook Pros, iMacs...But it would really be a shocker to
me and really uncharacteristic of Apple to announce all of these products at one time.”
The conference will be held in San Francisco from Monday to Wednesday.
