Hello YouTube, I just wanted to say that I was very surprised at the number of views
I got for my first video. And while I did get a lot of views, I didn't actually get a lot of subscribers.
So here's another video for you guys, and if you like this one too, um please subscribe and I'll give you more videos.
So the first step in learning how
to spin a pen is you have to learn the half spin. And of course, the half spin is very
simple. You just have to spin your pen in half. Now, this is also hard for beginners,
you see. They don't know that a lot of the power comes from your middle finger. So essentially
what your hand is doing is the index finger is used for balance. You don't really move it,
you don't use it that much, it's just balances your pen. This finger pushes it.
So you use this one to push. And the thumb, you can push it back if you want, you can
just let it stay there. Either way, it works. Ok so the half spin. You push, push, like
that. It's just...try and get this right. It's very slow, and it doesn't matter. Ok
and once you've got that down, you can move on to the next step. So this is the way I
spin my pen. Just like that. And I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos where people
hold it like this and they go and do all kinds of crazy stuff. I don't really know how they
do it, but I feel like holding it like this isn't natural. The way I hold it, it starts
off like this. It feels like you're writing, then you can just go and spin your pen. Ok,
so I'm going to teach you my way. To start off your training, I thought it was easier
to use a drum stick. Now I like it because it's bigger, and it feels heavier, and it's
just better in general. But if you don't have drum sticks, don't worry, I'm just using this
to show you. It's the same as a pencil, you know like writing with a pencil. And, um,
but, the other thing is that it's not really practical if you're in an office or at school
or anything like that, but here goes. So first of all how you hold it is you use 3 fingers
like this, and you use your 4th finger, your ring finger, and just rest it there. Just
like this, ok? So all the power is going to come from your middle finger. So it's going
to go like this, ok? Now as you saw, that was really slow. Also I want to mention something
is that I'm not holding it here, I'm not holding it here. I'm holding it right in the middle
where it feels nice and balanced. Ok, so holding it like this, and you're going to push it
with your middle finger so that it travels around your thumb. And then as it travels,
you're going to catch it with your index finger. Of course it takes a bit of practice, but
um I hope you get it. Your thumb. You're not going to hold it like
this, 'cause then you can't spin it around your thumb. You have to kind of angle it upwards,
right? So not like this, but like this. So you're going to hold your thumb there, push
with your middle finger. This one just balances, this one just balances, right, you're going
to push it, and there you go. Another thing I thought I should mention is when you're
spinning your pen, you have to move your fingers out of the way. So after you spin it, your
fingers look like this. Ok, so these fingers go out of the way so you can actually spin
it properly. Look. Ok? And the index finger is kind of tricky, actually. It's just practice.
So after it's been pushed off, your index finger kind of just goes straight for a while,
and then it catches it. Ok so it will look like this. You pushed off, these 3 fingers
kind of come in, your index finger is just out there, and then you catch it, ok? Like this.
I know it's kind of hard to see, I'll try and do it slowly.
So once you've got the hang of that, we'll actually go and do this with a real pen now. So I have 2 different
pens here. This one is actually really light, and it has almost no weight to it, both sides
are equally weighed, and I don't recommend that. That'll throw you off, I mean you can
do it, but it's just not very good when you're starting out. So instead, choose a pen or
pencil that has some weight to it. For this one, this side is heavier than that side,
so you can, you know, let the gravity do its work for you. How you're going to hold it
is let the heavier side go down, so it looks like you're writing, that's how you're going
to hold it. Remember, 3 fingers like this, and then the 4th finger, it just rests on.
So again, push with your 3rd finger, let it travel, and you know, like that, so like this.
Ok? Oh and I don't hold it here, again, you have to find the very middle of it, the very
center, that's where your weight will be balanced, right? So the heavier side has more to it,
so that the momentum can carry and travel over. So you're going to, if you're writing
like this, you'll just move it down, hold it up here, and spin. Now I hope this has
been helpful, and if you like this video, please subscribe, and like, and comment and
tell me what other videos you want me to do, or if you just hate my guts and you don't
want me to do any videos anymore.
