These fine specimens have been on display in
Europe in London's convent gardens and Madrid's Columbus Plaza.
I study Indians, I do a lot of travelling out west and I study a lot about the Indians.
But this is one tribe that I did not know of.
I have no idea what they're talking,
I asked whether they were Mayans and they said they didn't know.
I just find it very strange, I've never heard about it.
I've been in Guatemala and I read a lot about American Indians
and I've never heard about them.
but it's the concept of having two human beings caged
to show around, and to be calling them specimens
like, they're human beings, they have a name.
Strangest of all to me perhaps was the fact that
these people who left all our comforts, all our science
all our civilization, seemed to me yet happier and more free than we are.
