go back to the actions of the day that he would need you to plan for daniel
marion how it should be doing okay get away with a computer
motivated
today my segment on how it should be is about the word
and specifically how the elites in our country the folks in part pop
politicians and the media
inform viewers about how things should be or tell them what they are political
choices that
they face are
and they say things like
we must do this for us
we should do this or else and one of the most common ones that we hear today from
any bit figures in washington d_c_
we must
cut back on our obligations to our retired workers
or or carl workers or don't workers
or else or else
we will go bankrupt are also other sovereign debt crisis like grace
will become grace
or
you know some provider that's their version of that is or we will have
enough money to spend on withstands the net starting
all those other programs for for kids that
democrats up hold dear
here's what i want to say
the word much savior the world must
know that ideology was behind it
when someone creates choice and says
you know this or that will happen
unless you do this if you don't do this
then that will happen
and don't believe them take with a grain of salt i heard it from my professor at
first learn that from a professor of
business history in a major authority on the evolution the american corporation
we'll go when boasts a professor john sarbanes university
is a conservative
very conservative politically
buddy always start us off by saying
be suspicious when you hear the word must
there needed to be this condition in order for this condition to occur
because people like to create yet the young women that their preferred
ideological solution
is in the south city
in order to advance it
particularly if you prefer ideological conclusion
is on popular
and that's exactly the case that we're facing today
on the issue of austerity
in the united states
folks like the fix the deck coalition which is a group that's funded by
billionaire pete peterson and supported by counsel c_e_o_s that is headed by
jamie diameter number of other wall street bankers
essentially got together and said
if if american government doesn't cut back our social insurance obligations
the amount that we cover through medicare or the cash payments we'd are
promising people to social security
america the economy will get worse and worse and even though right now
american workers have seen their median income decline by four percent in the
past four years
that the ability to get a decent job that pays wells harder than ever
and the ability to retire
uh... securely in with dignity
is is nearly impossible
than does the brakes you're competing with workers from china
answer deal with it
while it's it's a little bit like the person robin your house telling you that
you don't really need that t_v_ and if they have you really think you dad cvd
then you're not gonna be able to afford medicine so it's really better if you
give me your t_v_
the american economy has been growing instead all the gains of the going to
guys affix the debt
and the people that that fun that campaign
which brings me to something that i wrote about
on friday
based on experience that i had i rushed over to ferreted square downtown awash
in d_c_ because i heard that there was going to be
a fix the debt flash mob there which meant that fix that that this
organization than as a billionaire finance astroturf group
that is interested of uh... sort of supposedly
in the idea of a bipartisan solution but really it's a solution that would have
some negligible revenue increases many of them regressive by raising taxes on
middle class people
and mostly wants a solution through driving through a quote unquote
long-term deficit-reduction plan that would cut social security and medicare
and they do abide telling people
that there's no choice
they do it by using that must work we must do this or else
we must 'cause orchard in medicare or we won't be a great nation a more
or economic stagnation
will be even worse
and here's the thing is the tragic thing
is there a lot of genuine
working americans that are struggling in today's economy
they're buying this argument
the buying the argument they look if they said that they say
both sides coming to gather
compromise that's appealing
and a lot of americans have
are are ideologically confuse they're not sure ur what things that would think
what causes things economically a lot of people
think that
it's the fault of immigrants that they're competing
the reason that they are economically
uh... unfortunate on fortune is because they could be with immigrants or that
the state is giving too much to poor people in those affection the budget him
it's been shown to have
great dividends in terms of economic consumption or that the the state is
is providing to watch in foreign aid
were very few of them say is that they're getting too much social security
and medicare
by being below the confuse no ideology sometimes
stand-up throwing their support behind fix the debt and the best example though
i found
was it was a a case of a guy the really warm my heart is going to see kindness
was somewhere was working at the stake so that flash mob
because he had a good friend which affects the debt his name is alar judy
ajke no age fifty two
and andy here's what you would he said
about what he supports
fix that that
he said if you think about it people are living off of credit you saw what
happened back in two thousand eight
i lost my position because the credible
i work for a company for twenty five years and they were kind of doing some
freelance stuff
just try to find all kinds of work
even though the economy is getting better
free don't pay down towards that
scalia worse and worse
accent
if you supported cutting socially medicare after afterall fixes that is
one of the leading political forces
urging or lawmakers
to take action that would cut social any medicare illness was treated as measured
in lives in the case of medicare
it's health care costs that are causing our border problems
and and medicare's better control those costs the private health care
he said
know how it uh... it flat no
i see what koresh sewell my mom and dad dad
my mom works hard for forty years as a child sex vedio thank god she was able
to save her own money what you get some so straight is a pittance
would be bailey b_n_l_ for her and my dad to survive on
where they live a life so they've become accustomed to
and they're already cutting back a little
so in essence
is is is because it is a perfect picture of what's of the casualties
of the great recession
and the casualties of our article economy along willing to take action lp
unemployed more he's someone in in in middle age
who is now under employed struggling for but i've got a part-time job
who lost his job would come in order without
for years to the recession
and he's a little bit confused sees conflict sort of the the issue of
private debt build up
in the economy
that lets the housing bubble in the crash with the government that that
could be used in fact to revive him relief
but that that is the fault
of the elites that is the fault at all
the politicians
and the figures in the media in the folks at fix the debt
there basically
feeling in this narrative
they're telling him
you'd you delegate your trust us
you're allowed us to translate policy for you
and we're telling you that you have no choice that you have been discarded by
this economy need to cut back further
because governments like a household
you know that that's where that's where his orders an economy seem to come from
a guy comes from a top even for brocco obama edges breaks my heart that
educated upper middle class people who know better
and who understand the way the economy works
will be entrusted by average americans to tell them how these things work or
selling them a false bill of goods
for their for their own good
for their own profit it's disingenuous
it's despicable it's a false choice
and that's not how it should be held showbiz telling the truth
