this is Trey with vertical jump prime dot com coming to you with a video on how
to improve your vertical jump for basketball fast
with these five tips the first tip is to build up fast twitch muscle
how you would do this is by doing explosive exercises and movements
so any exercise that you're doing
you can do it more explosively for example
squats you could be more explosive when you're coming up from a squat
another exercise
if you're doing toe raises you can do them more explosively
your plyometrics
you should already know this but if you're doing plyometrics you should focus on
explosion
and quick movement slow exercise
exercises that require you to move slowly
like heavy weight lifting stuff like that that will actually build up slow
slow twitch muscles you don't want that you want fast-twitch muscles because a
vertical jump and jumping in general
requires fast-twitch muscles so
you know always focus anytime you're doing exercises or
any kinda jumpin' always focus on explosion
exploding up quick movements
and this will help you improve your vertical jump fast
another thing you can do is work on your flexibility
this is an exaggeration of
you know being flexible but if you were this flexible
you would actually improve your vertical jump
so the point is if you want to get that extra edge
all on the competition or you know get to your goals quicker
flexibility will help you so just do any kind of
stretching stretch out your legs your arms
your core your whole body don't just limit yourself to stretching out
your legs just do anything
anything that will help you become more flexible I like to
I would recommend doing some type stretching
stretching routine at least three times a week
I also like to stretch
after workouts so you know flexibility
does help it will give you that extra boost to improve
your vertical jump load jumps is another technique I like to do
and also a lot of people don't know about
well how you do a load jump is you would get
dumbbells maybe ten pounds maybe twenty pound
dumbbells you know in each hand and you would just do squat jumps
but once you squat down
and you're about to jump up into the air you would drop
the dumbbells and then jump up into the air so what you do is your loading your
body with extra weight
and then releasing that weight right before you jump up into the air this will
trick your body into
recruiting more muscles and more strength and more power
to jump up when you really don't need it so you trick your body into being more
explosive
this is a great exercise technique you can do to improve your
vertical jump another thing you can do is strengthen your dorsi-flexors
these are muscles by your shin what you can do to strengthen your dorsi flexors is
walk on your heels
if you're at home you can just walk around the house
on your heels you'll feel it you feel little burn
in your dorsi-flexore and you'll know what muscle I'm talking about
so if you if you have the time
if you have some down time you know the day off or whatever this is what you can do
chest high pool jumps if you have access to a pool
and you know the water can go up to your chest high
you know just practice jumping out of the water
and this will this will help improve vertical jump
and it's also very easy on your joints if you're someone who has joint problems
or your legs your knees you know get sore very quickly
you can do pool jumps it's great great to improve your vertical jump
and improve your explosive explosion
