Thats why a lot of times it can be bulky when you always using the term street art.
Once again, it's good, helpful to differentiate but I mean, art is art
it's the explosion of creativity and you know
there is so many ways that it can go and so many ways to express yourself.
That's why I kinda love that. It is just art, not the confine of street art,
that's the beauty of it.
It just takes place on the street,
that's the venue where it happens but it's not necessarily
all that it is.
It is art with the big "A", you know.
I believe what street art is, originally, the beginnings of, was that
you making a space,
you are changing it to interact with your audience.
You know, in a free discussion.
It was very much communication.
It's a harmony with the space.
It tends to work with the space,
like say you have an abandoned building and you painted a bunch of flowers or something,
it's hard for even someone that don't like vandalism to really be angry when
they see those flowers because it could actually uplift their day and make them say "Oh that's nice". So I think that's some of the powers that street art has.

I think street art speaks with a lot of different types of people.
You can never panic because you have to always trust that the artist
knows what there are doing and knows that this is the best stuff that they've done.
My boyfriend and Skewville were approached by Converse in like 2001 to do a big Coachella Festival
and do all the art work for it.
And at that time we thought that was crazy, that wasn't what we wanted to do.
We were very like, you know, street art is for the people
is not to be sold. Because I do not believe in that,
taking something that's from the street and selling it as art work?
Like if it's put on the street is should be left on the street.
In terms of bettering the community I mean,
I think it does just because
it's beautiful amazing work. Just think like the kids,
the possibilities of that.
If you are growing up here in a kind of a harsh reality,
just a day to day life that we all experience,
this opening up this vistas and
seeing all this art from people all around the world
and becoming curious it's like opening up a whole world to you.
