In this specific video you're going to learn how to get and use a gravatar for your blogging.
Now if you don't know what a gravatar is, basically every time you go to any WordPress
blog and you make a post, you will notice that there is an avatar next to a person's
name.
Now with gravatar, you can actually make it so that if you make a comment on any WordPress
blog, doesn't have to be just yours, any WordPress blog you can have that specific gravatar added
to your comments or next to your comment.
The way you go about doing that is to go to gravatar.com as you can see here.
And you go ahead and click on "Get Your Gravatar Today" enter your email, and click on "Sign
Up" and a conformation email has been sent so we'll need to verify that.
And we went ahead and confirmed the link, so we're going to enter a user name here,
and then enter a password.
Of course we'll need to check, okay so that's not available, and once that's available we'll
need to enter the password here and here.
Click on "Sign Up" and you're probably thinking, "and how in the world does this work?"
How does WordPress know you know, that my comment is associated with my picture?
Well the way it knows is your email address.
Whatever email that you use and if you go to a WordPress site, you make a comment, as
long as you use this specific email address, then your gravatar is going to show up.
So what we need to do is simply click on images, it says "whoops looks like you don't have
any images, add one by clicking here" and we're going to go to - you can either get
a image from your computer hard drive, your image from the internet, a webcam that's attached
to your computer, or a previously uploaded image.
In this case I'm going to find an image on my computer.
Now obviously with a gravatar, you may want to use your real picture.
However, if you don't, you might want to pick a picture that you can upload and let's say
that I'm going to pick this picture.
Click on "open" and click on "next" and at this point you can actually crop the picture.
So we can crop it and let's say that once we're satisfied, click on crop and finish.
And it says "choose a rating for your gravatar" we're going to click on "G rated" and that's
it.
So now any time that I use this email address when I post a comment to a WordPress blog,
it will show this gravatar here, and that's it - it's just that easy!
