Let's look at how we can improve our spelling using anki. So first you need the program
anki, if you want go to google, put anki and there it is, now we have the program anki,
let's create a deck, we'll call it spelling. Open the deck. Let's add a card. So the 'type'
is 'basic', and the deck you can see is 'spelling'. On the front, let's write our mistake. The
wrong version on the front, the correct version on the back. Add that card. Let's look. So,
there it is, the wrong word. Show answer 'the correct way', but we want to write the answer.
so we need to go to edit, and we need to go to 'cards', this is the front of the card,
this is the back. Copy with the {{brackets}} . And paste here. So you can see we have {{back}}
now. Then type 't-y-pe-' and a colon, now you can see we have the spelling format. If we use big letters,
there is no spelling format. So we need the colon, or two dots : to get the spelling format.
Close. Now you can see we can type the answers. Let's type the wrong answer. It shows us that
that 'p' is wrong, and that 'g' is wrong, and that arrow means we need one more 'l'.
The words are a little small, let's make them bigger. We edit again, this time 'fields',
here is the size '12', let's change it to '20' and close. We can see it's bigger now.
Let's write it correctly. No red and no arrows. Yes, all green, and you can see 'spelling'
is bigger. A good idea is to use context sentences from your writing that your teacher corrects.
For example, here the student did a writing, and made a mistake with spelling here with
the word 'buy'. So the student copies this, and they paste into anki on the front, perhaps
take away SP, and we can see the correct version is here. So we take away the correct version,
and put a synonym in English or we can also put the word in your language, let's do Russian.
On the back once more we put the correct answer. Be VERY careful that this is the CORRECT answer,
100% correct. Let's look at this card now. I recommend using the context sentence, because
then you don't see the wrong version, only the correct version, but some students like
to see the wrong version. That's more or less everything you need, I'll do one more thing,
perhaps you want to use a different type of deck. Maybe you prefer 'cloze'. Let's choose
cloze. Now we have 'text' on the front and 'extra' on the back. So where it says text....
now, because it's 'cloze' you can take away what you want to take away and press 'cloze'.
So now we have 'cloze' spelling 2. Let's edit. It's wrong, because
we have SP there. Take away SP, It;s still wrong because we have a space. For me, this is a lot more difficult,
if you have the 'cloze' type of card, but maybe you prefer it like that. One last thing,
if it is 'cloze, note that you have {{type:cloze:Text}} here and you have {{typecloze:text}} here.
You need to make sure you have {{type:cloze:text}} with the semii-colons on the back and on the
front.
