Dave Gardy here at the Clean Cities Stakeholder Summit at Indianapolis. We're
at the reception afterwards on Tuesday and I'm here at the Clean Cities Ohio
booth, first with Andrew Conley who is Clean Fuels Program Director for the
Green Fleet. Is that correct? Andrew Conley: Yeah, I direct the Ohio Green
Fleets program at Clean Fuels, Ohio. So that program is really centered on
helping public and private fleets understand the range of solutions that are
available to them. We do tons of educational workshops, trainings and seminars.
We help folks get assistance with funding to deploy those kinds of
technologies. And we also run a Green Fleets Recognition Program so if groups
reduce their emissions or improve their efficiency we recognize them for their
leadership. Dave Gardy: Excellent, well that's great work you're doing there.
And Cynthia Madison is also a Program Director, but in the grants area. Is
that right? Cynthia Madison: That's right. I'm the Director of Grant
Administration. I manage our DOE Recovery Act Grant and also an EPA grant.
Dave Gardy: Now what are some of the challenges you're facing as you're trying
to get the message out to people? Andrew Conley: Well in terms of Challenges,
we've really gained a lot of momentum over the past couple of years with a
number of our educational events. A lot of people face challenges on the front
end in financing some of these things. But once they do get their projects
rolling there is a lot of financial benefits that they gain access to in the
long run. Dave Gardy: And on the financing side that's where Cynthia comes
in. How do you make it easy for people to get the financing? Cynthia Madison:
Well, we usually try to offer certain categories where they can get funding and
also when we have some partners drop out then we have new funding opportunities
we usually get the word out through an RFP and say we're accepting new
applications. And then we also, through our educational and outreach events,
we're always soliciting projects that fleets want to do in the future so we
keep those on file and then when we have new grant opportunities we can contact
those fleets to see if they are still interested in those projects. Dave
Gardy: Excellent. Well, congratulations on the great work that you guys are
doing. You've got a really beautiful display here. Dave Gardy here live on
the floor for Clean Cities Ohio, Cynthia and Andrew, live from Clean Cities
Stakeholder Summit, Indianapolis. Stay tuned for more.
