Hi. This video will show you how to access a syllabus on a faculty Web site.
To access faculty Web sites, you must first go to LSCC.edu.
From here, you should hover over where it says "Faculty and Staff."
This menu will appear. The first option on the left says "View Web sites."
We want to click that link.
That link will open a list that has every faculty member currently teaching at LSCC listed.
Faculty are listed by discipline. "Discipline" is just a fancy word for the subject that they teach.
For example, if you are taking Composition I, you are taking it with an English teacher.
So, down here under "English," in the E's, you will see a bunch of names. Choose the one that is your teacher.
Once you click the teacher's name, you will see his/her Web site.
There is great information here. You'll find how to reach him, his office location, email address and phone number.
You may see a see a picture of your teacher, or a cute little graphic like this one.
If you want a syllabus, though, you have to look over here on the left in the navigation menu.
From here, look for the word either "syllabi" or "syllabus."
"Syllabi" is the term for more than one syllabus. So, two syllabus become "syllabi."
Click the link.
To see the syllabus in its entirety, click the link that says .PDF.
You should know which course the syllabus is for by the name.
This is a syllabus for a Comp. II class--Composition II, which is Writing about Literature.
Syllabi are nice because they tell you which book you will need ahead of time, so you can buy your books and be ready for class when it starts.
The syllabus also tells you any extra materials you may need.
This example course requires a dictionary, and Microsoft Word 2007 or 2010.
Another great thing about a syllabus is it tells you a course schedule, or at least a tentative course schedule.
This way, you can plan your semester well ahead of time.
For online courses, syllabi are uploaded about a month before the class begins.
Hybrid syllabi are often uploaded around this same time.
That is all there is to know! Good luck with finding what you need, and the Helpdesk is always here if you need anything at all.
