So we've determined that the best, that we need a couple of a hundredths of an inch of
extra thickness in order to tilt the angle back. That's about the same thickness as a
credit card. So let's go ahead and use a card, a plastic card, to create our shim. That probably
will do quite well. So I'm going to place the shim at the position in the neck where
it will do the most good in order to help tilt it a little bit back this way. And then
we'll put it back together. Once it's back together, we'll again test the angle and,
if it's enough to have made a significant difference, we're done with that step. And,
if it's not, we may have to take it back again and make a second shim or a second layer until
we get it until it's perfectly level and the distance above the strings is pretty even
across the whole length of the fret board.
