Kuala Lumpur International Airport, called by the abbreviation KLIA, is situated in Sepang, about 30 km from the Kuala Lumpur boarder.
It is about 70 km out of the city centre and the journey by public or private transport can take up to two hours.
However, there are two transport lines of modern speed trains which connect the city centre with the airport. Travelling by these trains you can make it within 30 minutes only.
This airport is believed to be the most modern and the most sophisticated airport in Asia- Pacific region and it is the second largest one in the world.
It was opened in 1998 and it is proud for its nickname "The airport in the jungle".
It is not only for its location in Malaysia being covered by the jungle, but also because its construction was drawn as a unique project in terms of its approach to environment.
The design was to combine the futuristic technologies, Malaysian culture, wealth and tropical beauty of natural resources.
