Okay, this is an interesting little
factoid here.
Many of you
may have heard of our new PDF2DTP
tool now shipping for QuarkXPress.
PDF2DTP will also be available for InDesign very soon.
However, we got a question on our sales line about
importing Illustrator files for QuarkXPress.
It got me thinking:
Internal format is PDF,
so what will Markzware's PDF2DTP within QuarkXPress 9 do with the
native .ai Adobe Illustrator file.
Let me just show you what happens.
Okay, so let's go over here in Quark.
At the top of the Markzware menu item, there is
PDF2DTP
and Convert PDF.
And normally, you just choose your PDF here.
I first made a PDF, but then I thought, well, what would happen if I just went with the
native .ai
file? We see right away PDF2DTP for QuarkXPress 9.3
here
sees it
as a file type it can open, so
that's very much positive. I hit Open,
and look at that!
It converts
right over,
but, most excitingly to me,
it looks exactly like it did within Adobe Illustrator
here,
even it has here the text on a line,
a curved line at that.
Really amazing!
Now, once again, this is not what PDf2DTP was created for. It was created
for getting PDF files
into QuarkXPress, and soon for Adobe InDesign,
but this is just an added little feature, a little bonus. It appears to also handle
Adobe Illustrator native files .ai files. Well, anyway, pretty amazing.
For more information on PDF2DTP, cruise on over to markzware.com
today and see for yourself
what this new tool can mean for your workflow,
hear what many others have said already,
like Glen Saville,
a designer in England, calls it
"a real game-changer".
Thank you. A little quick tip from Markzware from David.
Have a great day!
